Activities

Pieksämäen Kuvataideseura is a local visual arts association in Pieksämäki, Finland, dedicated to promoting visual arts in the region. It was founded in December 1966 and officially registered on February 15, 1967. The association is a member of the Finnish Art Organisations Association (Suomen Kuvataidejärjestöjen Liitto) and consists of about 90 members, including professional artists, art hobbyists, and supporting members who enjoy and support the arts.

Main activities and offerings include:

  • Art exhibitions: The society organizes multiple exhibitions each year, such as an annual jury-selected show open to all, and a summer exhibition for members and supporters. Exhibitions also take place in local venues like Galleria Veturitori, and Galleria ABELI and ”Kuukauden taiteilija- Artist of the Month” at the Library
  • Education and events: It arranges courses, workshops, and events related to visual arts, supporting both learning and artistic exchange among members and the wider community.
  • Art trips: Members can participate in art-related excursions to museums, galleries and cultural venues.
  • Studio space: The association maintains a shared studio/workspace in Pieksämäki available for artists to use.
  • Grants & resources: Members can find information on grants, residencies, and art competitions, and the association supports access to opportunities within the broader Finnish art field.
